Photos Of Disasters In 2010

2010 have witnessed some severely disasters including earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, the eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland, the floods in Pakistan, the wildfires in Russia, the typhoon Morakot in China and so on. These disasters caused the death of many people as well as property damage.

 

Haiti earthquake

The 7.0 earthquake occurred near the capital of Haiti on January 12, 2010 affected around three million people. It is estimated that 230,000 people were killed, 300,000 were injured and 1,000,000 were made homeless. About 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings are reported to have been collapsed and damaged during the disaster.

China earthquake

The 6.9 earthquake took place on April 14, 2010 in Yushu, Qinghai, China. It is confirmed that 2,698 people were dead, and over 12,000 people were injured during the earthquake.

 

Agartha storm in Guatemala

After the storm Agartha which killed at least 146 people across Central America, a 200ft hole appeared in Guatemala City, Guatemala and swallowed up a three-storey building on May 30.

 

Russian wildfires

The fires in Russia are considered as the worst fires that Russia has ever experienced. It destroyed around 444,000 acres of forest land and killed 50 people.

The fires also cost about $ 15 billion in damage

 

Chile earthquake

At least 723 people were reported to be killed and 370,000 homes were destroyed during the 8.8 earthquake which hit Chile on February 27, 2010.

According to scientists, the earthquake may have shortened the length of the day by 1.26 microseconds because it was so powerful.

 

Eyjafjallajokull volcano

The eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland from March 21 to April 15 spewed lava, magma, rock and clouds of ash into the sky above it. People in the area had to be evacuated because of massive flooding due to meltwater from the glacier.

The disaster also grounded airlines. International airlines lost about $ 250 million per day during the disaster

 

Pakistan floods

Floods in Pakistan began in July 2010 directly affected about 20 million people. The number of death toll closed to 2,000 people and the total economic impact reached up to 43 billion USD

 

Typhoon Morakot in China

The typhoon killed at least 14 people in Taiwan and even made a six-floor hotel collapsed in floodwaters.

The typhoon damaged the properties of at least 136,000 people in Fujian province, and caused damage of 2.2 billion yuan as well.
